So, I’m laying in bed Sunday morning and Davy comes running into my room and says, “You need to get up, get dressed, pour some coffee, and come outside! Today is a special day because Matty is learning to ride his bike with no training wheels!” Sure enough, all three of them are outside at the crack of dawn with Matty’s training wheels off and he is gliding down the driveway. He did a great job and by the end of the morning he was riding it by himself. I took a short video and we cheered him on. He’s almost ready to ride on two wheels full-time, he just needs his legs to get a little longer for better balance when he puts his feet down… 🙂 Awesome job Matty bear!

What Happened To The Tent??
After what was one of the best family days, we crashed into bed around 10:30. We were all exhausted from the day and couldn’t wait to get some sleep. Andy and I love camping, we’ve camped all over the US and we have come to find that when sleeping on the ground it is most comfortable for us to open up all of the sleeping bags and spread them out. We probably had 6 sleeping bags/blankets laid out, 5 pillows, and three fleece blankets for us to layer and curl up under.
This tent that we were using was a 4-6 man tent. It wasn’t large, but it wasn’t too small either. It was 55 degrees, almost a little to chilly, so we each wore our pullover jackets and snuggled down under the blankets. It was Andy, me, Matty, and Davy. At 12:45, Matty sits up and starts projectile vomiting across this little tent. All over himself, me, the blankets, his stuffed animals, pillows, just everything. Instantly, we all wake up and move out-of-the-way. So gross. To top it all off we are in the middle of 100 other tents and it is soooo quiet out. So, as the stench takes over, I start pushing Andy to get out of the tent and get some towels to help me clean this up. He opens the tent and trips trying to get out ripping the whole bottom of the tent so now it won’t close. He stumbles into one of our beach chairs to catch himself and breaks the chair. Oh my…
I start throwing the nasty stuff out of tent and strip him out of his clothes. Davy sleeps on his stomach and is just staring at us with big eyes, and little Matty is sitting on Davy’s back in just his pull up trying to stay out-of-the-way. He was so cold.
We eventually get the mess cleaned up as best we could, flip around to the other end of tent, and try to go back to sleep. Somewhere along the way Andy and I start laughing at the absurdity of this situation and we can’t stop. We are trying to be quiet, so I end up crying I was laughing so hard.
Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep because every time Matty moved or moaned I thought another round was coming. Several people asked us why we didn’t just pack up and go home, but it was dark, there were at least 100 tents all around us and we would have made a lot of noise trying to pack, and the car was way down the road in the parking lot. It just didn’t make any sense. The next morning Garrett said he heard something, he just thought it was an animal outside his tent. By 8:15, Andy had the cars loaded and the poor tent was in the garbage can. This was definitely a moment to remember. 🙂

January 4, 2013
It is dark and drizzly here and I think the high was 59 degrees. Anything that we decided to do today would have to be indoors. In the morning we drove out to Parksdale to get some produce, it is officially strawberry season and the boys were excited for milk shakes, afterwards we went to Publix for our weekly shopping trip. At 12:30 Matty went on a playdate over to Gavin’s house. He played for two hours while Davy played here with Caiden. I curled up with Karen White’s new book ‘After the Rain’ (thank you dad for my birthday present) and enjoyed a nice quiet afternoon. For dinner I cooked a pesto vegetable pizza, we ate it along with some ham, and it was yummy!

Mattys Chugginton Birthday Party
Matty loves to bounce, so this year we decided to have his birthday party at “The Bounce House” over on Linebaugh near Westchase. What is perfect about this bounce house location is the large indoor jungle gym that it has. It is perfect for 4 year olds. The theme of Matty’s party was Chuggington, a cartoon train character on the Disney channel. He loves trains. About 20 of his little friends came out to help him celebrate his birthday. He had a wonderful time.

Mattys Thanksgiving Party
This year Matty’s class at Primrose put on a Thanksgiving show for the parents. They sang three cute little songs and then we sat down with them to eat pumpkin pie… They were so sweet, I videoed Matty’s performance, after all he has been singing these three songs at home for weeks… 🙂

Mattys 4th Birthday
YAY!!! It’s Matty’s 4th Birthday!!! This year Matty is really into Chuggington trains, so his big birthday present from us was a new Chuggington train set. He loved it. He spent the day with me and then for his birthday surprise I took him to the airport….Emma was flying in with Ms. Kelly to celebrate the weekend with him. They were so happy to see each other that it brought tears to both mine and Kelly’s eyes… Love them so. Happy Birthday Baby!

Mattys Class Birthday Party
We couldn’t have little Matty’s birthday go by without celebrating with his friends at school. He was so excited when I arrived at school, and as we set the tables his little shy side set in. All I wanted was to squeeze him and make him smile. We sang happy birthday, he blew out his candle, and we all cheered. I can’t believe my baby is 4…

Matty’s First Soccer Game
The time has finally arrived and it is Matty’s turn for team sports. He loves soccer, so when registration for Westchase miniwee soccer came out we had to sign him up. His team is called “Team Fusion”. Each team has five players and each week they play the same team, our opponent team is “Team Mutiny”. All of the children in miniwee wear the number 1. Andy is one of the team coaches and Matty was so excited…you just can’t fake his beautiful happy face.
