For Christmas this year I decided to make mom a couple of throw pillows for her couch. I originally saw this pattern on Pinterest and since then I have seen it in several other places as well. It is beautiful and can be done several different ways, but I liked these colors and I hope that she does too… 🙂

Christmas Dinner at Mom’s 2012
This year, after the kids had opened their presents from Santa, we drove over to mom’s house to have Christmas dinner with the family. Davy unwrapped a microscope kit and Matty unwrapped a Batman Geotrax. Both were very excited about their presents and poor little Matty could not grasp that we were not going to open and assemble it at Granny’s house. We all know he loves Batman and train tracks. 🙂
Holly was so excited to see the boys…. She has grown so much in the last four weeks. Davy played with her the most, he just couldn’t seem to get enough of her…

Christmas Morning 2012
It’s Christmas morning and Andy and I wait patiently on the couch for the boys to wake up and come running down to see what Santa brought them. I had expected them to beat me out of bed, but instead they slept a good half hour longer than normal. Davy was the first to come down, his eyes sparkled and he was soooo happy. We sent him back up for Matty, there was no way we were going to let him get started without him.
Santa brought everything on their list this year, except for the Xbox 360. After all the gifts were opened, we brought out the last one from Andy and I and let Davy open it. He was so happy. He jumped up, hugged me, and said “Thank you so much mommy!” It’s the best feeling ever to see such childhood joy on their faces. The big gifts this year were: Lego table, Lego’s, Furby’s, Xbox 360, Skylanders, Slushie Machine, Jake pirate ship, Quirkle, Chuggington trains, Scooby Doo house, roller blades, cowboy cap guns, remote control monster truck and boat, metal detector, Matty’s “jeep” 4-wheeler, and Davy’s phone.

Christmas Eve 2012
Today we decided to keep everything low-key. Davy is still recovering from the fever and we all need to get a little better before the big day tomorrow. We watched movies, baked gingerbread men, ate dinner with Dan and Debbie, drove around and looked at lights, threw carrots on the roof and sprinkled the lawn with sparkly oats, left out Santa’s cookies and milk, spent a little time Facetimeing the cousins, and then headed off to bed to read “The Night Before Christmas”. I can’t wait to see their faces tomorrow morning!

Winter Concert 2012
This year the theme for the Winter Concert was “Twinkle and Shine”. Andy, Mom, Brandie, and myself all went to cheer Davy on. The show was beautiful and Davy did a great job on his speaking part. “The true meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of baby Jesus!” The audience laughed, we were so proud of him.
I know he is blinking, he had just looked down to give Andy a high-five, but you can’t fake that smile so I had to include this one…
Tyler Woods…
Mikey Mezack…
Danica Muroff…
Davy’s dancing partner is Devon Elder…

Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas Tree!
It is the day after Thanksgiving and per our annual Zahn tradition, down went the fall decorations and out came the Christmas ones. This year we decided to head back over to Sickles High School to check out their trees. Last year we did a little shopping around and in the end we ended up back at the school. For the last three years this is where we have purchased our tree. The tree tents were surprisingly bare and as we were leaving one of the gentleman working the tent said,” We really want your business, sorry we don’t have more trees out we have been slammed today and can’t get them out fast enough. Please let us unwrap a few, we’ll find one you want.” So that’s what we did. He opened up three, we picked out one, and were on our way. This tree is 8 feet, we thought that it might be a little big, but once we got it home we realized it was smaller than last years….and perfect!
Originally, we were going to make homemade pizzas and decorate the tree, but it quickly became dark outside so we turned off the lights, made hot chocolate, and put in Polar Express. On Saturday morning, Matty and I ran to Target for new white lights and then the family decorated the tree when we got back. Only two broke from little hands…. Not bad, if I do say so myself… 🙂

Christmas Eve Party 2011
Christmas Eve 2011…it has finally arrived! After months of planning and sending messages to Santa, the wait is almost over… Davy and Andy asked if we could have another party this year and since Eve is on Saturday…I said ‘why not!’ 🙂 Here is Andy hanging out in the ‘man room’ with Brandie’s dad, Brain, Mark, and Garrett.
This year we decided to make the party pot-luck…everyone brought a dish or two. Here the table is starting to fill up. We eventually ran out of room in the dining room and ended up filling up the kitchen too!
Matty Bear loves his Courtney!!!
Ryla playing with Grandma Deb!
Time to throw the carrots onto the roof for the reindeer and leave Santa his milk and cookies…
Ummm… I don’t think that it quite made it to the roof…
Twas’ the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…
Look at what we found in the middle of the night!!!
I can’t believe Santa left Davy a sleigh bell! That is just what he asked for….

Christmas Day 2010
It’s early Christmas morning and Andy and I woke to the sound of sleigh bells outside and the silent creaking of the back door closing..and we knew that Santa Claus had been to our house. Very quietly we snuck out into the livingroom and this is what we found… We both just glowed with excitement because we knew that the boys would be up shortly and they were going to be soooo surprised and happy.
Davy was the first one to come sprinting down the stairs…
Shortly followed by Matty who zeroed in on a really large Mac truck from the movie Cars.
Davy is very excited to find a stuffed Toothless from the movie “How to train your Dragon”. This was the theme of his 5th birthday party here at home.
Davy’s first set of big boy golf clubs…Santa was so smart to bring these because Davy is starting the Golf Club at school in January.
I think that Davy opened one of his big gifts…a Nintendo DS!
Wow!! We were so excited about the presents, we forgot to get into the stockings. They are so full, they are overflowing!
Christmas isn’t complete unless you have the movie “A Christmas Story” on loop. Davy watching the snow scene while checking out his new spy kit…
Here’s Matty’s big gift…a bounce house. Boy, Santa sure does know our little Matty bear. Matty jumps all the time and everywhere he can.
Team effort to put together the basketball hoop…Andy put together 98% of it and he did a great job.
A little outdoor fun to burn off some extra energy before bedtime.
This picture here is classic Matty because he always jumps onto the swings on this belly.
