Mattys Thanksgiving Party

This year Matty’s class at Primrose put on a Thanksgiving show for the parents.  They sang three cute little songs and then we sat down with them to eat pumpkin pie…  They were so sweet, I videoed Matty’s performance, after all he has been singing these three songs at home for weeks… 🙂

Mattys Class Birthday Party

We couldn’t have little Matty’s birthday go by without celebrating with his friends at school.  He was so excited when I arrived at school, and as we set the tables his little shy side set in.  All I wanted was to squeeze him and make him smile.  We sang happy birthday, he blew out his candle, and we all cheered.  I can’t believe my baby is 4…

The First Week of 1st Grade and EP3

It was the first day of school and our boys were ready to go!  The night before we laid out their clothes, packed their bags, and went to bed early because we all knew that 6:30am was going to be here before we knew it.  Most of the summer the boys were getting up between 7-7:30, so this transition wouldn’t be too hard on them.  For breakfast they gobbled down some pancakes with syrup and whipped cream and a big glass of OJ.  With their bellies full, they got dressed, and we headed outside for our traditional in front of the house photo.  Although I laid the camera out early hoping that the lens would adjust to the August humidity, it didn’t so a few of them are cloudy.  Oh well, I’d rather have cloudy pictures instead of no pictures.  🙂

Davy is now officially a first grader.  His teacher is Mrs. McElroy.  Matty is in a Preschool 3 class called EP3 and his teacher is Ms. Adkins.  Neither one of them seemed nervous, sad, nor anxious…just excited!  We loaded into the car and off we went for drop off!

This year instead of walking Davy in, we let him jump out of the car from the car line just like the other older kids.  He was happy.

We walked Matty into his new class.  He too did a really good job.  I expected him to be a little clingy, instead I think that he was just excited.  We kissed him good bye and we were off!

Davy’s teacher shared some photos from throughout the week… Looks like everyone is have a wonderful time.

First grade boys on Friday’s officially have to dress in a blazer and tie, doesn’t Davy look so handsome…

Here’s to a wonderful year!

Happy 2nd Birthday Matty Bear!!!

To kick off Matty’s 2nd birthday, we surprised him with a party in his classroom at school today, November 15th.  After looking at our schedules, we decided that we would be able to give Matty more birthday time if we started the day before rather than just on his actual birthday.  When it came to deciding what theme the party would be, it was between Mickey and trains; and since he was Mickey for Halloween…this was the perfect opportunity to shine something else that he loves.  Granny, Andy, Davy, and I all show up to his classroom with cupcakes, snacks, and balloons for everyone… he was so happy to see all of us.  The class sang him happy birthday and he just beamed with smiles.

After we left the school, we headed home and again surprised Matty with Thomas decorations, a big homemade cake, and a giant singing Thomas balloon.  Davy immediately ran and gave him a big hug when we got home.

Now of course we couldn’t wait until after the cake to give him his presents…sooo…  From mom and dad he got his first big boy bike, from Davy a Cars helmet, from Papa a Little Peoples Car Garage, and from Granny the Slinky dog from the movie Toy Story (it looks like Maggie).

After presents were opened, Andy cooked up one of Matty’s favorite meals: grilled hot dogs, cheese puffs, chips, and strawberries.  I took down the baby swing off of the swing set, and put up a lowered big boy swing just for Matty.

Kelly and the kids came over to help us sing Happy Birthday to Matty and eat cake.  I was so proud of Matty.  He wanted to wear the hat and he actually blew out his own candles.  Such a sweet boy.

Off to bed Matty goes in his new birthday Thomas jammies….  Can’t wait to wake up and sing to you tomorrow morning birthday boy….  :O)

Matty’s First Day of Preschool at Primrose

Today was Matty’s first day ever of Preschool.  Up until this point the most interaction that he has had in a classroom was at church and well we stopped going to church because he would scream and cry so badly that every week I was getting paged to the nursery to come and get him.  So, Andy and I were nervous today as to how Matty would react being left at school.  We were hoping that he would be some what comfortable at the school since he had been so many times to drop off and pick Davy up.

It continued to rain this morning, as well as bring on a lot of humidity.  I tried to keep the camera lens clean, but it kept fogging up and I have no idea really why the pictures turned out this way.

This is Matty’s new school.  Primrose is located about 1.5 miles from our house and we were really pleased with how Davy progressed during his time here.

Although Matty is only 21 months, Ms. Nightlinger went ahead and placed him in the young 2’s class.  I felt relief over this because Matty is so smart and we don’t want him held back in any way.  This is his classroom and his teacher Ms. Pagan, his other teacher is Ms. Santos and the two classroom helpers are Ms. DeJam and Ms. Diaz.

You can tell here that he is starting to get suspicious of the surroundings.   He has a tendency to eat his fingers when he is unsure of something or nervous.

This little girls name is Reece.  Immediately when we walked into the room she ran over and smiled at Matty.  We were pretty sure that she wanted him to go and play with her.

Andy gave Matty a kiss goodbye, we went to leave the room, and Matty’s panic set in.  He raced for door and tried to sprint out after me.  The teacher caught him and he started to cry.  I wanted to stand at the window and wave at him, but we all know that isn’t a nice thing to do to them.  The teacher quickly walked off and we left.  :O(

This afternoon Davy and I both went in to pick him up.  He saw us at the door and ran over to us crying.  I think that this was his way of saying, “You left me here all day!”  I gathered up his blanket and his Bruce and he snuggled into me.  It was really sweet.

The teacher said that he didn’t cry for very long after we left this morning and he didn’t cry at all the rest of the day, until he saw us.  She said that he was a really good boy.  He ate all of his food (beef nuggets, potatoes, both snacks) but no vegetables.  He also slept really well on the cot and they were surprised when he asked to use the potty.  She said to me, “He’s such a smart boy!”  This is that moment when the parent glows and says, “I know”.

The boys ran out of the building and out to the car….all in all I would say that Matty had a pretty good first day of preschool.
