We have the most wonderful friends ever!!! Most everyone knows that the Zahn’s have been ill so, I was super excited when my friend Catie texts me on Tuesday to say that she is going to bring over dinner on Thursday. Although we are better, we are still tired, coughing, and not 100%. This meal is perfect: A huge beautiful spiral cut ham, homemade mac-n-cheese, a salad mixed with apples, craisins, feta and almonds, green beans tossed with dressing, sun-dried tomatoes, bacon, and feta, chocolate cake, and diet coke. Does she know me or what??!! Thank you Catie….Love you!

Today, Davy had the fun lesson of learning about action and consequence. A few days ago, he comes into my bedroom and holds up his Skylanders game disc and half of it is cracked….broken! No disc, no game. So this morning we piled into the car and headed over to Toys R Us to get him a new one. Caiden had given him a gift card for his birthday, I had a few ‘rewards’ cards lying around, and we had one duplicate Skylander from Christmas that Davy was going to get to swap out for a new one. Well it turns out that they don’t just sell the disc, you have to buy it as a kit $59.99 (I called GameStop too just to be sure). As I was talking to Customer Service, the boys run off and each pick out a new Skylander. Needless to say, I had the fun job of explaining to them that they weren’t getting new ones, the traded one was now going to be used as cash, and that the purchase of the game sucked up all of their money. It was bitter-sweet for them, so sad to not be getting new ones like they thought, so happy to get the game again. Oh well, how many times do we have to say….”Take care of your stuff!”

Happy New Years!!!! It is another beautiful day here in paradise and look at what I started my year off with….gotta love waking up next to this sweet face. 🙂
Still trying to recover from this flu, so Andy kept everyone close to home today. He spent most of his day helping and cleaning around the house and for that I am so grateful. I made black-eyed pea soup for lunch and for our family outing we piled into the car for a little geocaching. I got to ride along and they did all of the hunting :). We found three caches today, two logs and one trinket exchange. Davy found his first cache today at the Keystone church, it was buried in a little hole in one of the benches at the outside sanctuary. He was so excited. Caiden found the last one in the brick path next to the fountain over at Highland Park. Fun times…

Project Life 2013
After Matty was born, the days of trying to keep up with scrapbooking came to a drastic halt. After many hours of complaining about how bad of a mother I was to not be keeping all of Matty’s little baby details like I did for Davy, Kelly decided that she and I were going to partake in Project Life. Kelly first introduced me to this project at the end of 2010 and together through motivation and accountability to each other we successfully completed all of 2011. www.beckyhiggins.com Project life is just that, a project that captures your day-to-day life. Becky Higgins created several kits, which was perfect for us. It came with a binder, monthly tabs, journal cards, and a date stamp. All we had to do was take the picture, print it, and fill out the daily card. Looking back, I just love this project. So many things happen day-to-day that we just forget about or take for granted, such as: the breakfast table, playing on the playground, sleeping on the little bed, losing teeth, etc. As we rolled into 2012, my photo printer broke and after a while I fell to far behind to try and catch up. I am filled with sadness that I didn’t get to capture all of the little moments of last year, so my resolution is to not let that happen again this year.
Examples from Project Life 2011
Earlier in the year I found a printing company www.blog2print.com who prints blogs chronologically and at an affordable price. So that means that this year I will post daily pictures here and then combined with all of our other wonderful adventures I’ll be able to print a book out and the Project will be complete. I am so excited to see what will unfold this year. I appreciate those who follow us and for those who receive email posts….consider this a warning… 🙂 Happy New Years!!!
