Davy’s Day Out!

Children often ask for and to do a lot of things, and Davy is no different.  So Andy implemented the wish list for things that Davy wants and “___’s Day Out!” for things that we all want to do.  Now that school is back in and schedules are a little more routine and consistent, we decided that it was time to increase church involvement every week to Service and Sunday School.  When you only get two days on the weekend to hang out with the family, it’s a lot of time to miss with them….  3 hours of church and then 2 hour naps…  = :O(

How it works is each week after church, whose ever week it is gets to pick the family outing for lunch.  The rotation is: Mama, Davy, Daddy, Matty, … and so on.  Last week was my week, so I picked pizza.  We all know I love pizza and any opportunity that I get to go out and get it…I’m all over that.  This week was Davy’s turn.  He picked Celebration Station.  It is a little far from the church…but it doesn’t matter, that is what he wanted to do.  I packed our clothes to change into in the car so we wouldn’t have a detour.

I can see why kids would love this place there is a lot going on.  Indoor video games, laser tag, mini golf, kiddie rides, water bumper cars, race cars, and more.  So we bought the boys the unlimited wrist bands and off we went.  For lunch we ordered a pizza ( :O) – I had no part in that…I swear) and some chicken tenders, surprisingly the food wasn’t half bad.  Here are a few pics from “Davy’s Day Out!“, can’t wait to see where daddy picks to go next week!

Sweet Matty wasn’t handling the teacups to well, so Andy ended up holding him so that he wouldn’t fall over…

Last ride of the day…the train.  Oh, how little boys love trains…  :O)

Seabreeze Kite Flying

Most of time when you head down to the beach at night it is really windy, so knowing this Kelly went out and bought a bunch of kites for our vacation.  We went out two different nights to fly kites, the first night the breeze was slight and there were a lot of gnats so we went in early and then the second night it was perfect.  Davy, Colin, and Connor each had their own kite and then Emma and Matty shared one.  The kids just had a ball running up and down the beach watching the kites soar into the sky.  Davy kept saying that he wanted his to go higher and higher and Matty kept asking to hold and try.  We only had to untangle the lines a few times.  The weather was nice and we also got to watch a beautiful sunset.  Life is good.

Fun on the Beach

There’s nothing better than being on vacation and watching your children just have a wonderful time.  Playing on the beach means running, swimming, laughing, treasure hunting, digging, building, chasing Seagulls, growing and so much more.  We love going to the beach!… so here are a few of the pictures that we took during the week.

Here Davy and Connor are walking from the condo over to the boardwalk that leads out onto the beach…

There are over 100 sea turtle nests on the island and there are 4 rare green sea turtle nests.  We were hoping that we would have enough energy to get up around midnight and take the older boys out to see if we could see any eggs hatching…but we were to tired after long fun days of playing…next summer!

Davy, Colin, and Connor loved riding their Boogie Boards!  They rode them for hours.  The only problem that we had was after riding the waves onto shore they were to far down the beach and we would have to call them back…

I couldn’t help but take a picture of this perfect beach dog.  Every morning that we were out we saw it lazily walk the beach with its owners.  For a dog, it can’t get much better than this…

Davy and Connor were making sand angels…

The kids loved having the wagons on the beach.  Davy and Connor were always wanting to help us pull the wagons, but in the loose sand with the babies in them they were kind of heavy, so this way they all got to climb in and out and take turns dragging it around…

After each trip to the beach we found it to be easiest if once we got to the condo they stripped down, were hosed off, and then headed inside “mostly” sand free…

Ahhh, how could watching six kids at the beach not be fun!!!!…..

Boating on Lake Fontana

This outing was one of the boy’s favorite on our trip this summer.  We rented a pontoon boat for half of a day from Alarka Boat Dock outside of Bryson City.  It was surprisingly cheap and a lot of fun.  Lake Fontana is surrounded by either the Smoky Mountain National Park or the Nantahala National Park so the scenery is breathtaking.  While boating we saw some of the most gorgeous homes that lined the Little Tennessee River.  We saw the Great Smoky Mountain train and the passengers waved to Davy.  He was so excited and waved back.  Several times we stopped the boat to swim;  the water was cool and refreshing… We were expecting it to be stone cold since it is winter runoff, but if we didn’t know any better we would have said that it was warmer than our pool.  All in all the half day was the perfect amount of time to spend on the boat.  Next time we will bring an inner-tube and a fishing pole…
