Grayson turns 1!!! Andy, Davy and I went over to the terminal around noon, dropped off his gift in baggage claim and made it just in time to watch the cake smash take off. Grayson loved his cake. He even tried to share it with Davy. The meal selections of the day were hamburgers and hotdogs. All in all it was a very smooth flight. There were even goodie bags as a parting gift. Whitney, thank you so much for the musical recorder…it has been music to our ears…..

>Catching (Sun) Rays – Poolside with Lad and Katie
>
Davy was invited to hang out poolside on a Saturday afternoon by Lad and Katie.
As you can see the three of them were very relaxed and enjoyed the warm Florida sun.
Davy took the opportunity to learn how to kick his feet in order to move his enormous floating crab and Mom and Dad dunked him under water several times in order to get him ready for his upcoming swimming lessons. He was enamored by the water, but was very careful not to fall in or get himself in “over his head”.
Thanks for the invite LJ and Katie, Davy may be spending some more time with you poolside this summer.

>Central Park Zoo
The next morning Brandie met us at our hotel and we headed out for a bite to eat before going to the zoo. We had breakfast at Sarabeths, Central Park South. This is the location for Brandie’s upcoming bridal shower, we were very pleased, and the scones were wonderful.
It was a little bit colder outside than I had originally planned on, so we stopped first at the gift shop and bought Davy a sweatshirt. Inside the zoo Davy saw the Seals, Penguins (which smelled terrible), the Polar bears, Baboons, Rabbits, Turtles, Birds, Goats, and Pigs. Everytime Davy saw a new animal he would point, get excited, and say “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!!” How cute is that. We didn’t stay long at the main zoo, we thought that Davy would have more fun at the petting zoo. He was completely in awe of the giant birds running around, and I have to say that if the all the birds were as big as me…I would be too. But his favorite part was feeding the goats. Brandie helped him feed the black goats and he laughed when they licked his hands. He is so sweet.
We headed back to the hotel, packed us up, stopped for lunch and walked Brandie back towards her office. We stopped in front of Radio City Music Hall and took Davy’s picture. Under his blanket is Bruce. Yesterday, Andy and I were laughing saying that we should do a photo album and title it “The adventures of Bruce”…well, here he is….
The limo picked us up at 4:30 and two hours later we were on Gordon and Nancy’s plane heading home. Davy stared out the window at the other airplanes. He loves airplanes….

New York City, here we come!! It was Tuesday afternoon and after only two days we were missing Andy so much that we decided to fly up and spend the rest of the week with him. I got home from work on Tuesday at 5pm, looked at flights, and booked one that left at 7:25 on USAirways. I packed Davy and I up and off we went.
Davy was so good on the plane. It wasn’t over booked, so we sat in the last row and had it all to ourselves. We had one stop over in Philadelphia and eventually landed in NYC. The city does not require you to have a car seat, so although I carried it in a bag that acts as a backpack…we didn’t need it. It was so strange seeing Davy in the car and not in a seat. I am certain that he was a little confused also. We quickly made it to the Hotel Intercontinental.
The next morning Davy and I went for a long walk. We left Midtown, went downtown and then back uptown to the Park. I stopped and bought him his first donut. We met Andy and his clients for lunch and then it was time for Davy to take a nap. The weather in the morning was just beautiful, but sometime during those two hours while he was napping…it started to rain.
Davy and I hopped into a cab and buzzed right on over to FAO Schwarz. He knew immediately that we were in a toy store and that this place was for him. We cruised the lower level for about and hour, he picked out two toys, and then we stopped at the Icecream Bar for a snack. Davy had a little sandwich, I had a cup of soup and we split the largest rootbeer float that I have ever seen. Now of course we sat down at the wobbly table and it eventually landed on the floor…humm…..oh well….
At about this time Brandie got off of work and we met on the corner of Central Park South and 6th ave. We were so excited to see her. We ran through the park in the rain and finally made it to her condo. Laurence and Andy got there just a little bit behind us and for the rest of the evening we decided to stay in, eat some great pizza, drink champagne and wine and stay dry. We loved having dinner with them at their house. Wish we could do it more often…..to be continued……

>Princess Madelyn turns 3!!!
>
Meet Madelyn! She turned three years old today and I got to go to her Birthday Party!!! It was a princess party. She had at least a dozen different little princess dresses lined up for other girls to wear, they looked so pretty. We played stick the glass slipper on Cinderella’s foot, pulled the strings of the pinata and watched the candy fall out, sang her Happy Birthday softly, ate pizza and Birthday cupcakes. I ate a whole thing!

>Catching (Devil) Rays
>
Davy enjoyed his first game of the season on a perfect Sunday afternoon. It would have been the perfect day for a retractable roof, but Tropicana Field has made some tremendous strides lately and is much more fun for the average fan. He was treated to one of the best starting pitching performances in the history of the franchise as James Shields struck out 12 Indians and gave up only two hits through 8 innings.
Then….the Rays bullpen let him down. Up 4-1 in the 9th, Stokes gave up 5 runs and the Rays lost the game. Terrible loss, but I don’t think that Davy will have to suffer through many more of these as the team really looks to be coming together. Great position players and great starting pitching (like Shields in this game) will make them a force to reckon with over the course of Davy’s childhood. Good time to become a Rays fan…

>It’s Kiddie Pool Time
>
It’s a warm, beautiful day outside and nothing could be more fun than some good old fashion backyard water time. As I stood in the isle at Walmart contemplating which kiddie pool I would like to get the boys, I finally decided on agreeing with the professionals and getting the age appropriate one. It just looks so small. And in true Mama fashion, I just couldn’t get only the pool, so I bought the ring of squirting water to go around the pool for them to run back and forth through.
Davy, Michael, and Dusty had a great afternoon. I think at first they were a little confused, but it didn’t take long for them to get completely soaked, laugh and splash. Dusty enjoyed a few drinks from the pool and Michael gave Dusty a cool down while he was sun bathing.
>Mama…Mama…BOO!!!!
>
How cute is our little sweet potato??!!!… Davy loves to come into the kitchen and help me cook. As you can see, Bruce is the catch of the day. Normally, he stirs and bangs on different sizes of metal bowls with a wooden spoon but today, he found where the pots are kept and discovered that if he took them out he had a new hiding place. Every little kid loves to play Peek-a-boo, and Davy has mastered the game. He hides behind his toys, his hands, furniture and goes “Boo, boo, boo!”. You just can’t help but play along with him…. Boo Davy!!!

>Golf Fever

Andy purchased Davy his first set of Golf Clubs this weekend. Granted, the plastic set won’t allow him to hit the ball very far, not unlike his grandfather, but it will give him the opportunity to work on some fundamentals that all children learn, such as chasing the dog with the club, and wacking their mother and father in the shin with the club.
Here is an inspiring video of a two and a half year old who can already play better than most of Andy’s friends…Davy’s not quite there yet, but we’ll keep you posted on his progress.

>Surfing In Florida
>It happens once in a great while, but when a nice storm brews, we can get enough roughness in the big bathtub called the Gulf of Mexico in order to get the die-hards out on the water surfing. Well during our trip to Bradenton this past weekend, we were able to see some of these nuts out in the water. Although, I forgot our camera and the actual weather in the background included 40 mph wind gusts, pelting rain and enough lightning to scare any wise person away from water, there they were. I picked these photos off the web for Gulf surfing saying it occurred on 4.15.07, but I thought the sky was much more ominous than what is depicted here. Oh well, who are we to argue with the internet.
Davy loved watching the men and boys surf and kept pointing and babbling at each of them as they popped up on their boards for another wave. He was also very impressed by all the sea gulls that could not seem to find a way to fly against the wind gusts, despite their best efforts.
